Remembering John Allemand |
|
|
On April 10th, hundreds of friends, family and neighbors gathered to
honor John Allemand, the elder of the two Allemand Brothers, at their
India Basin boatyard. John and Flip landed jobs at the Anderson &
Cristofani Yard and Marine Ways in the 1930s after building their own
sailing boat, Taba II. They opened their own yard, Allemand Brothers Boat
Building and Repair, in 1946 and have been in business in India Basin
ever since. John Allemand passed away at the end of 2004, but his wish
to have a party at the boat yard has now been fulfilled. John loved this
boatyard, calling it his "second home," so it was wonderful
to see so many friends and family come out to remember and honor him at
this special location.
Flip Allemand remembers his brother John. |
