RE: India Basin Clear Channel billboard
Dear Mr. Harris,
It has been a long-standing goal of the India Basin Neighborhood Association to rid ourselves of the blighted billboards on PG&E property at Hunters Point Boulevard. Since they have been allowed to slide into disrepair and obsolescence they have become the regular target of graffitists, arsonists and vandals.
As part of the need to help beautify the neighborhood, a brand new children's playground has been constructed in the adjacent property. We feel outdoor advertising has no place in this environment, and is offensive to our neighborhood. This is where the community has long been striving to foster, among other things, a safe haven from the commercial excess that afflicts the rest of our daily lives. We much prefer that the current wreck of a billboard be razed and that no new and improved 'targets' be erected.
Thank you for your attention.
Cab Covay
Chair, India Basin Neighborhood Association
Mr. Covay:
Again, thank you for your recent email expressing the India Basin Neighborhood Association's desire to have the billboard removed from PG&E's property. I am pleased to inform you that it will be removed.
You will receive a letter from the Company in the near future giving you the details of the removal. Being a neighbor of choice is important to us. We believe this action is consistent with our philosophy of being a good neighbor.
Once, again, thanks for letting us hear from you.
