9:40AM Meeting Called to order: No Quorum Present.

9:41AM Approval of Meeting Minutes: No Quorum; no approval of minutes from February 04, 2012.

9:42AM Chairman’s Report:

a. Unfinished Egg Hunt details: MH clarified that all “egg donations” are general funding, per Board decision last year. MH reiterated motion; all agree. SES to send e-mail to RVH re correct acctg for gen donation.

b. Consider Steve LaPlante for Board membership: for May mtg.

a. Correspondence: TY ltrs went to Meiswinkel; Doherty re business sponsorships.

a. Update on Membership: MH suggests doing a postcard mailing to increase membership, but members decide to focus instead on each Board member making two calls per month to lapsed members, urging renewal.

a. Ongoing effort to increase membership/Reach out to other associations:

1. Hillside village – SES has contact & will reach out to her.
2. Mariners village – MH will ask Steve LaPlante.
3. Condo’s on Innes – need to find a contact there.

b. Call old members to encourage them to renew: As discussed, each Board member will call lapsed members and urge them to renew membership, and to sign up on Yahoo Group. Re Yahoo Group, KA volunteers to take over duties of maintaining list. SES to work w/ KA to get list in shape and draw up guidelines for maintaining list. KA to share membership duties w/ BS re Yahoo Group.

9:17AM Chairman’s Report:

a. Report on meeting with PG&E: members discuss mtg w/ Ontario Smith of PG&E, & felt it was positive. MH to arrange another mtg to discuss idea of using tank lot for parking during America’s Cup, and having big screen TV in India Basin, with food trucks, tables, etc. along lagoon. PG&E could hire professional parking control, who would then employ local youth as “flaggers” assisting in parking.

b. Additional notes on AGM: MH would like to create a “manual” on the AGM, so each year no need to re-invent the wheel. AGM tasks: 1) check-in/set up; 2) Food purchase/prep; 3) Outreach, including D10, SFPD, & local HOAs; 4) Presentation: Yearly recap; Plans/Goals for coming year; Current Issues; Encouraging membership; and 5) Board Election.

a. Stair design Meeting Feb 9^th: MH reports mtg went well, w/ DPW approving low lights, landscaping, & landings (instead of straight flight of stairs).

b. Update on Membership: BS not present.

9:41AM New Business:

a. Egg Hunt Planning: Egg Hunt tentatively set for Saturday, April 7^th (day b/4 Easter). Discussion of Egg Hunt tasks: 1) Secure park permit; 2) Get SFFD & SFPD to attend; 3) Invite City Grazing goats to attend; 4) Canopy?? any chance to borrow, rather than buying one that gets used only once per year; 5) Info table set-up & bring materials; 6) Egg Coordinator to organize egg cooking/coloring volunteers; 7) Bunny Suit (JF usually wears – available this year?); Chocolate coins or $1 bills for prize packages.

b. Do we want to do the Egg Hunt this year? Many Board members do not have the time to devote to the Egg Hunt this year, most notably, JF. RL suggests that IBNA focus on something that more closely aligns us with our natural constituency – we never gain any new members from doing the Egg Hunt. Is it time to stop doing it, and instead do a community pot-luck, maybe in conjuction w/ the America’s True event? After discussion, decision made to stop doing the Egg Hunt.

10:10AM Future Agendas.

a. Outreach Posters: RL suggests making up some posters that promote IBNA, and post them around the neighborhood, including at local businesses (Speakeasy, Bay Natives, etc.) Maybe contact Cab about using map, then work on text.

b. New Board Members: Steve LaPlante & Sean Karlin are interested.

c. Future guests: invite Kofi Bonner of Lennar, Tiffany Bohe, Andrea from Sup. Cohen’s office, & Thor Kavlofsky.

This year, [...]]]> Saturday, April 7th, IBNA held its 12th Annual Egg Hunt in India Basin Shoreline Park.  Approximately 50 kids showed up to hunt eggs, play games, meet their local SFPD officers and SFFD firefighters, play with farm animals, and enjoy the delicious food.  If you weren’t there, you missed a great time!

This year, we almost did not hold the Egg Hunt, because Jill (who usually does the lion’s share of the work) was unavailable, and other Board members were too busy to take it on.  Luckily for all the local kids, Erin Farrell stepped up and took over.  Erin did a spectacular job!  She recruited 25 AmeriCorps volunteers who work with her in the local public schools, and together, they wrangled donations of supplies, did outreach, prepared food, organized games, colored and hid eggs, and whew, the list goes on! The Egg Hunt was a huge success due to Erin and her team of AmeriCorps volunteers. And, luckily for us, Jill Fox was able to attend the Egg Hunt and help out in myriad ways, such as putting together wonderful prize packs for golden egg winners. Most of all, we were lucky to have Jill there wearing the Big Bunny costume!

A big THANK YOU!! to Jill, Erin, and all of the AmeriCorps volunteers for doing such a great job.  Another big THANK YOU!! to all of the IBNA Sponsors who donated funds, supplies, assistance, farm animals, food, and more to make this Egg Hunt our best yet:  SFFD Station 25; SFPD Bayview Station; RFJ Meiswinkel Company; Pump It Up; City Grazing; Mentoring for Success; BAYAC (Bay Area Youth Agency Consortium); AmeriCorps; and our IBNA Board and Members who helped out in so many ways.  Well done!!

a. Review of AGM: MH reports that mtg went well, other than low attendance. JF noted we need more outreach, especially to Hillside Village. MH will get addresses for postcard campaign.

Correspondence: no correspondence this month. SES to do TY letters to: Forrest Grey re AGM; SFPD Capt. Paul Chignell re attendance at AGM; ltr re IBNA’s support of Redistricting D10 to keep Dogpatch, Potrero, India Basin, & So. Waterfront together; & ltr to DPW re dumping of human waste & garbage on Aurelious Walker. SES also reported updating website w/ biz sponsors. SES will add “Daffodil Hill,” SF Parks Alliance award,& 3/2/12 Grand Opening at biz sponsor Bay Natives to website.

a. Update on Web Site: SES reported on updates (see above).

b. Stair design Meeting Feb 09: MH will attend mtg, and will state IBNA’s preference for 3 L’s: Lighting (solar, low-lighting as opposed to cobra-headed street lights), Landscaping (ideally using succulents and/or native plants from Bay Natives or Flora Grubb), & Landing (include bench on landings, to create vista point & rest area, rather than a straight-up stairway).

c. Update on Membership: BS reports that the AGM brought several members who updated their memberships, & submitted receipts for reimbursement.

1. Block Book notification: MH informed Board that SF City Planning Dept. charges approx. $100 for IBNA to receive notices of actions taken re the parcels located along 6 blocks of Innes. JF makes motion to approve expenditure of funds & to use MH’s address for receipt of notices; SES 2ds, all approve.

2. Blue Greenway: JF raises issue of Green Connections & the Blue Greenway, & her continuing work on same. IBNA receives recognition due to JF’s work.

3. Redistricting: SES brings up the current redistricting project as something IBNA needs to work on, to avoid being separated from Potrero Hill & Dogpatch. JF makes motion for IBNA to support keeping So. Waterfront areas together; RL 2ds, all approve.

10:30AM Future Agendas.

a. Meet w/ Navy: at this time, Board members feel there is no need to pursue a mtg w/ Navy re base cleanup progress.

11:10AM Meeting opened to general public.

a. Karen Mauney-Brodek, Deputy Director for Park Planning, & Marvin Yee: Presentation made re progress on 2008 Bond measure to improve SF neighborhood parks. Input from IBNA members solicited, & IBNA members strongly urged Park Planners to focus on acquiring Historic Boatyard – the only SF recreation area with water access & supportive of wooden boats, & noted D10′s dearth of open space/parks.

b. Ontario D. Smith, PG&E:IBNA members heard presentation re potential uses of former power plant. PG&E has paved upper tank site (bounded by HP Blvd.& Middlepoint, across street from old power plant) for temporary weed control, & is open to finding interim uses, provided those uses can be cleared off-site w/in 24 hrs & agree to being “temporary only.” PG&E received input from other sources to “put jobs there,” but recognize that the area restrictions may realistically preclude that usage. IBNA members note that there are no “eyes” on the site, & few biz owners would agree to such terms, but perhaps something such as a plant or tree nursery could house stock there. Food trucks maybe, but not enough bizs/residents to support them. PG&E also exploring moving their Energy demo unit onto property bounded by Jennings & Innes, across from old power plant site.
